Our Story

The idea for Kali Wellness was born as a result of a conversation between Katherine Poulos and Dr. Kate Egan. Katherine was enrolled in Dr. Egan’s Human Physiology course and got to talking one night after class; Katherine lamented that her health was in a state of deep decline, and after some questioning, remarked that her health declining directly correlated to her time in cosmetology school. Dr. Egan was amazed that there was never any discussion about chemical exposures and the potential health risks in Katherine’s program. It was in that moment, they both knew they wanted to share their knowledge and experiences and create a platform for educating everyone—but especially those in the beauty industry—about the potential risks associated with personal care and beauty products.

Her wish is to empower other beauty professionals and clients to become more informed, so they can instill positive changes in their own minds and bodies. Dr. Summer Beattie, ND

Naturopathic Doctor

Dr. Summer Beattie is a naturopathic physician born and raised in rural Alaska, which will always hold a piece of her heart. In 2004, she received her graduate degree as a doctor of naturopathic medicine from Seattle’s Bastyr University. She spent nearly eight years in family practice and served two terms on the board of directors for the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians before accepting a position at a specialty surgery center in Alaska.

Upon returning to Washington in 2015, Dr. Beattie pursued training with physicians and organizations setting the standard of care in regenerative medicine, with an emphasis on injection therapy. Other key tools of her practice include IV, ozone, photodynamic therapies, and hormone optimization. Dr. Beattie also has a special interest in addressing brain health and supporting patients with chronic and complex illnesses. She has had the privilege of working with and mentoring under well-known leaders in the treatment of vector-borne, mold and toxic exposure illnesses and supporting patients with autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases.

Through her experience, Dr. Beattie has cultivated a deep passion for giving patients foundational resources and support for overall health, not simply offering procedures and prescriptions or generic treatment plans. Dr. Beattie builds protocols with attention to bioregulatory medicine tenets and includes the use of energetic therapies (such as sound, frequency and light) along with integrative technological and diagnostic advancements.

When not in the clinic, Dr. Beattie leads a team of instructors and training providers in many of the modalities she uses in practice. Equipping and building a collaboration of providers in order to make this medicine available to more patients is some of the most rewarding work Dr. Beattie does.

Her free time is spent adventuring with her two young children, husband and dog. Outdoor activities, music and art are a constant part of the family’s busy life.

Dr. Kate Egan, ND + IFMCP

Naturopathic Doctor, Institute of Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner

My decision to pursue a career in medicine was born from a deep dissatisfaction with the patient experience.  I am a “Why” person.  I always want to know why something is happening.  As I was beginning my health journey, I searched for a practitioner who would spend the time, ask the hard questions to get to the root of my complaints and try to explain why I was not feeling as well as I could.  I came up short time and time again. I decided that I wanted to be the kind of doctor that I was searching for. I turned to naturopathic medicine because of one of the basic tenets of the practice: doctor as teacher and first do no harm.

I attended National University of Naturopathic Medicine. This education taught me to look at medicine differently, to take the time to ask the hard questions and see the relationship between lifestyle, diet and illness. I learned to treat the whole person rather than the symptoms. Since graduation I have been teaching college level anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology in addition to practice. The teaching has allowed me to deepen my knowledge of the body and reinforced my conviction that the choices we make daily influence our health.

For the past few years I have been doing advanced training in functional medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine and environmental medicine through Environmental Medicine Education International.  This has deepened my appreciation for the fact that every one of us has a story, and our unique stories provide insight into the root of our health challenges. It is at the root, that true healing can occur.

As a Naturopathic Doctor with a clinical focus in environmental medicine, skin health, aesthetic medicine, hormonal imbalances and digestive concerns, my aim is to integrate the latest innovations and research with evidence-based natural therapies.

After the sudden passing of his father (due to a massive heart attack) in 1990, Madhu Sai immersed himself in working on his innermost self. Over the next few years, with the help and guidance of his Masters, he underwent a spiritual transformation and experienced several fundamental realizations. He explored, experimented, experienced, and expanded his philosophical and religious outlooks, as well as broadened his understanding of mental, emotional, and spiritual life, by way of Self-Knowing and Self-Realization.
